Going to see John & the boys in Pratteln today, and it's your birthday, great man.
Have to think of 1999, when I took that extra train ride to the very same place after I was so overwhelmed with the first time ever I had seen you live
( Tuttlingen ).
Know you're going to be there in spirit,
like Colmar 2011, when I cried like a baby for the last 3 songs.
I don't mind if it's the same tomorrow.
Miss you much, all of us do,
rest in peace and joy,
thanks so much for all you gave.

BJH with the orchestra at Weeley in 1971 was the most moving musical experience of my life. My subsequent 'finding' of classical music and a love of crossover classical/rock was a direct result of Woolly's influence on BJH's music. I saw BJH many times in the 70s. I had always hoped to see Woolly perform again with an orchestra, but, alas, it will never be. But, even now, when I need to calm myself, I can transport myself back to that warm night in 1971, the sound of a band in total harmony with an orchestra wafting across the field to a 17 year old floating above the ground, and I still cry! It happened again when I saw BJH on a wet night in Worthing in 2006! I know it's frowned on, but, luckily, I have a recording of that night, just wish I had one of Weeley. Thank you Woolly, you changed my life.

I was very lucky due to my cousin being a close friend of all members in the band, that as a young lad, i even played football with them all in Les Holroyd parents garden, All the lads were great with me, so many years I followed the band as if i knew them personally, and saw them endless times in Chester and Liverpool, It was a great shock to learn of Woolly's passing,a true gent RIP
