Dear Mel,
Thank you for allowing me to interview you (with Les) for URB (University Radio Bailrigg, Lancaster) round about 1978. I remember your warmth, friendliness and helpfulness. God bless you, my hero!

Since my childhood i always enjoyed listening to BJH songs. And it´s always very sad, when one of those old stars is leaving us. The music remains. Enjoy the other side Mel!

Nearly six years on. Apollo Manchester '78 and Empire Liverpool '79. Two of the best i ever saw. BJH totally understated and still high value. Listening to Everyone Is Everybody Else just now and it is as good as when i first heard it in '75. God bless you Mel.

I have only just learned of your passing Mel,I am very saddened to know that the world has lost a truly great drummer. You were a source of inspiration to me when I was learning to play back in the seventies.I remember seeing you play on Hastings pier and watching in awe,and hoping that one day I would be able to play, even half as good as you, still hoping. thankyou.

Heaven must be rocking with all the great and sadly departed musicians up there. I never knew that Mel had also joined 'em, until now, five years later. A real shame. One day and in turn we'll join you. RIP.

The lovely man who lived nextdoor, I used to play in your house, looking at your drum kit and gold albums on the wall. My dad told me you were a great rock star, the best drummer around. I didn't believe him. I do now x
God bless you Mel, me and my mum always knock back a whisky in your memory on New Years Eve x

I am an African from Cameroon and live in London. I grew up with BJH. They are part of my me.Part of my dream. People don't know, but BJH were, and still popular in Africa than The Beatles. Mel, thank you for what you did. As you know better than anyone, never go up to the sky, you might not come down. Peace!

I was saddened to hear of Mels demise albeit a few years down the line. I have been a BJH fan since Mocking Bird but the first album that grabbed me was 'Everyone is everybody else' saw the guys perform in 1976 at the Winter Gardens, Bournemouth. Never to be forgotten. Love and peace.

merci
rendez-vous au paradis.
